 Ailefroide Pelvoux

A great walk from Savines for the day: it takes you from the level of broad-leaved trees to the mineral environment of high mountains with its specific flowers (like edelweiss, buttercup, androsace and gentian) and its wildlife. Leave Savines towards Embrun, and turn to Vallouise when you reach l'Argentiere la Bessée. You then enter the National Park of Les Ecrins (the largest one in France with 92000 ha) and some famous summits like les Ecrins, le Pelvoux, Les Bans, la Meije. You might go to Ailefroide too and see the Pré de Mme Carle and its White Glacier.
